How to Delete Your Badoo Account
Step-by-step on Android, iPhone and the web, the two things to do first (cancel Premium, save what you want), what happens after, the recovery window, when hiding your profile is the better choice, and how to request full data deletion.
Deleting a Badoo account takes about a minute once you know where the option is, and most of the mistakes people make happen before or after that minute: uninstalling the app and assuming the profile is gone, forgetting that a Premium subscription keeps billing, or deleting when hiding the profile would have done the job. This guide covers the two things to do first, the exact steps on Android, iPhone and the web, what happens after you delete and how long you have to change your mind, the alternatives (hide, snooze, pause) and when each is the better choice, and how to make a formal data-deletion request. It also covers deleting when you've lost your login. All of it is free.
If you're leaving because the app isn't working, Badoo not working may fix it faster than starting over; if it's because nothing is happening, no matches on Badoo is usually a profile problem rather than an app one.
Before you delete: two things
Cancel any subscription first. Badoo Premium and Premium Plus are billed by Google Play, the App Store or, on the web, your card, and deleting the account does not cancel them; people discover this a month later on their statement. On Android, open the Play Store, tap your profile, Payments & subscriptions โ Subscriptions โ Badoo โ Cancel. On iPhone, Settings โ your name โ Subscriptions โ Badoo โ Cancel. On the web, Settings โ Payment settings. Credits you've bought are lost on deletion and aren't refundable, so use or accept losing them. Badoo Premium has the detail.
Save anything you want to keep. Screenshot any chats or contact details you'd want later; once the recovery window closes, nothing comes back. If someone in your matches is worth staying in touch with, swap numbers before you go.
How to delete your Badoo account
The path is the same on every platform; only the first tap differs.
On Android and iPhone
- Open Badoo and tap your profile picture (bottom right, or top left on some versions).
- Tap the gear icon to open Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Account (or Delete account directly on some versions).
- Tap Delete account. Badoo will offer alternatives first: hide your profile, snooze notifications, or get a free Premium trial. Scroll past them and choose Delete account again.
- Pick a reason (any is fine) and confirm. You may be asked to enter a code sent to your phone or email, or to type a confirmation word.
- You'll see a confirmation that the account is deleted. Now uninstall the app if you want to.
On the web (badoo.com)
- Log in at badoo.com and click your profile picture or name at the top.
- Open Settings from the menu.
- Scroll to the bottom of the settings page and click Delete account.
- Decline the alternatives Badoo offers, choose a reason, and confirm with the code it sends.
What happens after you delete
| What | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your profile | Disappears from People Nearby, Encounters and searches immediately. |
| Matches and chats | Vanish from your side and from the other person's lists. They are not notified. |
| Recovery window | Badoo lets you restore the account for a limited period (it has described roughly 30 days) by logging in with the same details and choosing to restore. After that it's permanent. |
| Subscriptions | Keep billing until you cancel them in your app store or payment settings. Deletion does not cancel. |
| Credits and purchases | Lost on deletion, not refundable. |
| Your data | Profile content is removed after the recovery window. Some records may be retained for legal and fraud-prevention purposes per Badoo's privacy policy; see full data deletion. |
| Making a new account | Allowed after deletion, but reusing the same phone, email and photos links it to the old one; if the old one was blocked, the new one usually is too. |
Hide, snooze or pause instead
Badoo offers three lighter options in the same menu, and for a lot of situations one of them is the better choice.
Settings โ Privacy (or on the delete screen). You vanish from People Nearby and Encounters, no one new can message you, and your matches and chats are kept. Best for a break, or when you've started seeing someone.
Stay fully active but stop the pings. Best if the app itself is fine and the interruptions are the problem.
Everything goes, recoverable briefly. Best if you're done for good, want your data removed, or want a clean start with a new profile after the window.
If the reason for leaving is that Badoo isn't giving you what you want rather than that you're done with dating apps, it may be worth hiding the profile and trying a better-fit app for a month before deleting: Badoo alternatives lists the closest options, the AI app finder matches all 31 apps to your city and goal, and the relationship apps category ranks the ones built for something serious.
Requesting full data deletion
Deleting the account removes your profile, but Badoo (part of the Bumble group) may retain certain records for a period for legal, safety and fraud-prevention reasons, as set out in its privacy policy. If you want to go further, you can make a formal request under data-protection law (GDPR in the UK and EU, and similar regimes elsewhere): in the app, Settings โ Privacy usually has options to download your data and to request deletion; otherwise contact support through the help centre and state that you're making a data-deletion request. Do it from the email address on the account so it can be verified. Badoo has a statutory deadline to respond (a month under GDPR, extendable in complex cases). Before you send it, download a copy of your data if you might want any of it, because a completed request can't be undone.
Deleting when you can't log in
You have to be logged in to delete, so the first job is getting back in. Try every sign-up method you might have used: phone number with an SMS code, email with a password reset, and Facebook, Google or Apple login. Check spam for reset emails and wait two minutes between code requests. If none of them work because you've lost the phone number and the email, contact support through the help centre from a new address, explain that you want the account deleted and can't access it, and be ready to prove it's yours (photos from the profile, the phone number that was on it, approximate sign-up date). If the account is blocked, you can still request deletion through support; blocked accounts aren't visible to others, but the data is still there until it's removed. Badoo not working covers login and code problems in detail.
What to do next
- Subscription cancelled in the app store or payment settings.
- Anything worth keeping screenshotted; numbers swapped.
- Account deleted from inside the app or web, not just uninstalled.
- Confirmation seen; recovery window noted if you might change your mind.
- Data-deletion request sent, if you want records removed.
- App uninstalled and login removed from your password manager.
If you're moving on rather than stopping, start the next app with the profile lessons from this one: dating profile photo tips and the AI dating profile generator work on any app, online dating tips covers the habits that keep it healthy, and online dating safety covers what to watch for wherever you go next. And if you leave the door open with a hidden profile, the beginner's guide and Badoo review are there when you come back.
